The Adventure Begins

After 15 awesome years of marriage, which have resulted in three amazing boys - Davis (10); Brady (8); Sam (5):

Shannon and I are finally going to be blessed with a girl!!  Over a year of grueling paperwork, interviews, on-line courses and seminars resulted in one of the happiest moments of our lives in late November 2012.  On that night, our prayers were answered with a call from our adoption agency that we had been matched with Xiu Fan Li, who was being cared for in an orphanage in Xiamen in the Fujian Province in China.  God's original, perfect plan and design for our family continued to take shape.  Below is a picture of our first glimpse of the daughter that God had set aside to be a part of our family before the earth was even created:

We quickly realized that all of the work/praying/waiting that we had done over the last year was not the hardest part of the adpotion process.  The hardest part had just begun....knowing that our daughter (which is very cool to say, btw) was in the hands of people that we don't know half way across the world.  As you can imagine, our prayers for little Xiu Fan Li became much more desperate as we asked God to comfort her, to wrap his arms around her and let her know that she is loved, not only by him, but by the parents that He had set aside for her.  Our prayers became laser focused as we asked that God would bring someone into her life that would take special care of her until we make it to China!

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

  1. Please forgive the primitive nature of this blog. I have never blogged anything in my life! Shannon has been asking me to start this for over a year. Now that we found out just 24 hours ago that we will be leaving for China in just 72 hours, I decided that I should probably get on this. As a result, most of what you will see on this blog are pictures and updates of our adventure to China to bring Mya home. Enjoy....
