Preparing and Waiting....

As we eagerly await our travel approval from China, Shannon, her mom and a few friends help get Mya's room ready.  Our house has been invaded by purple and pink!

Davis, Brady, and Sam are asking daily when we're going over to China to bring their sister home.  We finally get the email from our agency that we have been approved for travel and that we'll be leaving as soon as we can get our appointment with the Chinese consulate confirmed.  We received our travel approval in late February so, according to the experience of our agency, this meant we'd likely be traveling by late March or early April.  Our travel coordinator then informs us of a bunch of holidays and trade shows in China that would make it nearly impossible to travel in April so there was a good chance that if we didn't get our appointment very soon, that we'd likely be forced to travel in May.  We obviously didn't want that!

On Wednesday (3/6), we receive word that our agency has applied for our consulate appointment and they're hoping for the week of March 25, which would mean we'd need to be in China by 3/16 if that happens.  They told us they'd hope to be able to confirm our consulate appointment by Sunday night (just a couple of nights ago).  At about 11:00 that night, Shannon and I are emotionally spent as we are on edge waiting to find out if we're going to be headed to China in just a few days.  Finally, Shannon is about to go to bed and she asks me to pray with her for just a minute so she'll be able to sleep.  As we prayed for peace and patience, we also admitted to God that we were frustrated, that we want to go meet our daughter and we want to do it now!  So I prayed specifically that we would get the email with our consulate appointment so we could get our travel booked and be on our way later that week.  Literally, within 5 seconds of saying "amen", Shannon gets an email on her phone, which was sitting on her lap, letting us know that our appointment with the Chinese consulate has been confirmed for Thursday 3/28, and that we need to be in China by Saturday 3/16 so that we could pick Mya up Sunday morning!!

Listen, I've seen God answer prayer before in some pretty cool ways in my life.  I've also been taught that God's timing is perfect, which can be very frustrating when it's not in line with my timing.  It is really cool to see God answer prayer right when we ask for it.  When things are completely out of our hands, and we cry out to him from the depths of our heart, begging him to bring clarity to this journey that we are confident that he has called us to.  To see such a tangible, timely answer to prayer like that was an awesome reminder of God's faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
