Amazing News

Now that we had been matched we were able to send an old-fashioned, written communication to China to Xiu Fan's caregivers to try to find out as much as we possibly could about her. We were also able to send her a care package and introduce her to her new family through a few pictures of us.  In response, we received a few updated pictures and some amazing news:

The amazing news wasn't that she had experienced over 12 months of growth since the original picture we had seen (which obviously wasn't as recent as we had thought).  That said, from the three pictures we received, it was clear that she was being well taken care of.  The amazing news was in a response to one of the questions that we had asked:

Question: Can you give us an idea of her current sleeping arrangement so that we know what to do in order to make her transition at home as seamless as possible?

Answer: She sleeps in a bed with her foster mother.

What?!  We immediately called our agency to find out what they knew about the fact that she wasn't in an orphanage anymore.  Given the amount of time it took them to respond, they were a little surprised by it as well and were trying to find an answer.  Either way, God had so clearly answered our prayers as she had been taken out of the orphanage and was being cared for in a loving home.  In fact, she was even getting used to the idea of having boys around as the letter let us also know that she had a foster brother in the home as well.  They even went as far as to say that her foster mom was teaching her how to say "mom" and "dad" as she points at the picture that we sent!  Needless to say, we were in awe of God's goodness, love and faithfulness and continued to pray for her protection and well-being.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:11-12
